Road-Show Information Days in Balatonfüred, Hungary

From 10th till 13th of June the Road-Show information days took place in Balatonfüred. The workshop for municipal decision makers started on Thursday at Vaszary Villa in Balatonfüred at 9.30 am.
The speakers at the workshop were Norbert Merkel who spoke the opening words, Thomas Lewis who introduced the project (see slides here), Hannes Neupert who spoke about technical issues and infrastructure (see slides here), Christiane Edegger who brought examples with pedelecs from Austria  (see slides here) and T. Bognar who represented the retailers perspective. Balint Gyorivanyi translated the speaks from English to Hungarian. Also representatives from the media attended the workshop.

Wien Energie and KTM start pedelec initiative

Wien Energie, Austria's largest energy provider, and KTM, an Austrian bike company, have started a pedelec test initiative. From 1st June till 31st July 50 men and women will test pedelecs and will share their experiences in an online blog. During 1st and 31st July there will be a public voting that will select the winner.

Legal Situation on Pedelecs in Austria

In Austria electric bicycles are regarded as bicycles if

1) their power does not exceed 600 Watt and
2) their design speed does not exceed 25 km/h.

In Austrian law there is no difference between a pedelec - the motor starts when the pedals are moved - and an e-bike - the bike moves even without pedalling.

Go Pedelec! Road-Show Information Days took place in Graz, Austria

On Tuesday the 4th of May the Road Show Information Days took place in Graz, Austria. At the 15 meters long test track people had the chance to test pedelecs between 12 am and 6 pm. At the same time a workshop for municipal decision makers and bicycle retailers took place inside the town hall of Graz.
