The workshop bears on topics interesting to municipial decision makers who ponder about how to integrate pedelecs into their urban traffic concept and subsidy concept. Besides some basic information about pedelecs the workshop is about the experience in European cities with pedelecs with a focus on the experience in the country where the workshop takes place.
Here are excerpts from the agenda of a held workshop (example from Graz/Austria 2010):
1. Experience with electric twowheelers in Swiss municipalities, Mrs. Heidi Hofmann
VEL 1 (1995-2001, Budget 21 Mio. CHF = 12,67 Mio.) and VEL 2 (2001-2005, Budget 12.5 Mio. CHF = 3,2 Mio.; since 2005, programm infovel (www.infovel.ch) with a budget p.a. 1 Mio. CHF). During these projects several hundreds of four/tree wheel and two wheel electric vehicles have been purchased with a subsidy on behalf of the project. These various projects were scientifically examined. On the basis of these research data, the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) started a new programme ’NewRide’. NewRide is a progamme supporting the introduction of e-bikes and e-scooters in the German-speaking and French-speaking areas of Switzerland ( http://www.newride.ch/). Among a lot of other activities, NewRide focuses on carrying out road shows (together with authorities at the local level and vehicle suppliers in order to present the vehicles and give the possibilities of ride and drive. NewRide is financed by swissenergie (SFOE) and is Partner of the agency EcoCar which promotes energy efficient vehicles in Switzerland. Among the most impacteffective activities within the Swiss projects VEL1, VEL2 and Newride, road shows were by far the most successful element. For this reason, the road show activity as part of this project is part of the Go Pedelec! project as well.
- 2. Energy bicycle region Weiz-Gleisdorf, Mrs. Iris Absenger
Mrs. Absenger is head of the energy region Weiz-Gleisdorf since March 2008. The region focusses on energy autonomous mobility based on a regional development plan. The mobility component in a first phase relies on the implementation of pedelecs.
