An interesting opportunity has opened up for pedelec manufacturers and traders to build awareness for their brands (without spending a lot of money) in a part of Germany which promises to be a major e-mobility region in the near future. 

 

The holiday region Allgäu in the southwest of Germany (the foothills of the Alps) is one of seven regions receiving special support from Germany's federal government to grow the use of e-vehicles (e-autos, pedelecs, e-scooters, e-bikes, Segways etc.)

In a south-German town the local electricity provider and two local pedelec traders came up with a radical plan to promote the ownership and use of pedelecs in the local community: every buyer of a pedelec gets €250 in his hand.

The electricity provider of the south-German town Bad Wörishofen (photo left) and two local bicycle shops together donate €250 to everyone who buys a pedelec at the local bicycle shops before 31 May this year.

Another interesting initiative regarding tourism and pedelecs has been implemented in Velden, Carinthia. The local tourist association has decided to establish an electric vehicle rental system. The system is already realised in Velden and will be expanded in the whole Wörthersee-region during this year.

Since 16th of May in the Southern Styrian region "Rebenland" in Austria 50 pedelecs are available for tourists and the local people. Now it is possible to drive through the vineyards with pedelecs. The company VeloVital has established a mobility concept for the region including plans for special cycle tracks for pedelecs, the construction of charging points, a sophisticated bicycle rental system as well as the maintenance and insurance of bicycles.
